There is a big river crossing to begin with though which means you'll start with wet feet - not really a problem for me since it was such a wet day that wet feet were inevitable! :P

Re: The Clachlet Traverse

Thanks Dave! Yes, I felt pretty lucky with the weather! With the obvious exception of the ski centre side I was surprised how relatively wild the hills felt - definitely ones to revisit, though I fancy coming up to Creise from down in Glen Etive.

Re: The Clachlet Traverse

Fantastic report with magical photos. I've done these hills twice (once camping, once as a day trip) with no views either time (bad timing/planning but you take what you can get when you drive all the way up from Southern England!). Have put this back on my 'todo' list with a note to make sure the weather is good! :D Congrats on the anniversary.

Re: The Clachlet Traverse

Thanks for your comment, Paul! Camped at Sandwood bay a few times now but only ever in May or September to try to minimise the midgies. I'm just trying to assess my options. I have gas stove, a method burner and also a wood gas stove. Obviously the wood gas is heavier but I wouldn't have to carry as much fuel. The meths is lighter but the gas is so much more convenient then those two are.

Re: Modifying Viewranger Icons In Bulk - The Mountain's Silhouette

Hi John. Apologies for the very late reply. By a POI file, I mean a file that contains a list of the summits and their locations. You can get these via a site like http://www.haroldstreet.org.... The icons that are used are already within the Viewranger app.

Re: Modifying Viewranger Icons In Bulk - The Mountain's Silhouette

Hello. I'm not sure it is possible to change out the icons. You could try asking Viewranger directly?

Re: My TGO Challenge 2013 Gear List - The Mountain's Silhouette

Hi Andrew. The blog is open but quiet at the moment! The 500g canister pictured above got me all the way to camp on the final night (so covered me for about 9 wild camps - hot dinner, hot drinks and breakfast coffee). I bought a 250g canister in Aviemore but only used it for breakfast on the final morning of the Challenge.

Re: My TGO Challenge 2013 Gear List - The Mountain's Silhouette

Hi, is this blog still open?
I was wondering how you got on with the supply of gas and how much you actually used? Can you tell me whether I was in the right place and, if I was, which of the files do I need?

At this stage, having the Munros marked would be plenty for me. In future, distinguishing between tops and main summits could be useful, in which case, this post would be my guide.

Cheers.
